Why do I need to balance the pH level before adding chlorine?
The pH level is the foundation of pool water care. Chlorine can only unlock its full sanitising power if the pH sits perfectly within the ideal range of 7.0 to 7.6. If the pH level is too high, the chlorine loses its efficacy - meaning you are essentially wasting pool chemicals. Furthermore, an incorrect pH level causes burning eyes and rough limescale deposits.

What is the difference between organic (stabilised) and inorganic (unstabilised) chlorine?
CF. Group offers both chlorine varieties, as they are designed for different scenarios in day-to-day pool maintenance:

  • Organic Chlorine (The All-Rounder): This chlorine contains built-in sun protection (cyanuric acid). It prevents the chlorine from being rapidly burned off by solar UV rays. It is perfectly suited for regular continuous dosing, holiday care, or spring start-ups.
  • Inorganic Chlorine (The Powerhouse): This variety is completely pure and contains zero sun protection. As a result, it acts exceptionally fast and aggressively, but also breaks down quickly afterward. It is the ideal professional rescue treatment for rapid shock chlorination after hot summer days, heavy rainstorms, or if the water is on the verge of turning green.

When do I need additional algaecide and flocculant?
Even with ideal chlorine levels, your pool water can sometimes require extra support to achieve a pristine shine:

  • Algaecide (Algae Prevention): While chlorine actively kills live algae, an algaecide acts as a preventative shield, ensuring spores cannot latch onto the pool walls and multiply in the first place. It keeps the surfaces clean and completely slip-free.
  • Flocculant (Clarifier): Sometimes, despite correct chlorination, the water remains slightly dull because tiny dirt particles are too small to be caught by the filter media, passing straight through the system. CF. Group's flocculants bind these microscopic particles into larger clusters, allowing the filter bed to trap them effortlessly. The result is an incomparable, sparkling, crystal-clear feel.
