HEISSNER Pond Aerators & Solar Pond Aerators
For biotopes, garden ponds, and fish ponds
Pond Aerators by HEISSNER provide a reliable oxygen supply for garden ponds and support the biological self-cleaning process of the water. Especially during high temperatures, with higher fish populations, or increased nutrient levels, additional aeration contributes significantly to stabilising water parameters.
The HEISSNER product range includes electric pond aerators as well as solar pond aerators for energy-independent use. These systems are tailored to various pond sizes and are suitable for continuous outdoor use.

What does a pond aerator do?
A pond aerator enriches the water with oxygen. Using an air pump, air is directed into the pond through air stones. The rising air bubbles increase the oxygen content and improve water circulation.
- Stabilisation of biological processes
- Support for filter bacteria
- Reduction of digested sludge
- Improvement of water quality
- Relief during heatwaves
When is pond aeration recommended?
- During high summer temperatures
- In ponds with fish (e.g. goldfish or koi)
- In cases of high organic load
- If there is a lack of oxygen or if fish are seen gasping at the surface
How long should a pond aerator run?
- In summer: ideally continuously
- At water temperatures above 20°C: preferably 24 hours a day
- With high fish populations: continuous operation is recommended
- In winter: to assist in keeping a small area ice-free (depending on the model)
As water temperatures rise, the natural solubility of oxygen in the water decreases, while the oxygen demand of fish and microorganisms simultaneously increases. Therefore, continuous operation is particularly beneficial during heatwaves.
Does a pond aerator support the pond filter?
Yes. Increased oxygen levels improve the activity of filter bacteria and enhance the biological cleaning performance of the pond filter.
