HEISSNER Effective UV-C Pond Clarifiers

Clear pond water for biotopes and garden ponds through effective UV-C technology

UV-C Pond Clarifiers by HEISSNER ensure permanently clear water in your garden pond. Using ultraviolet light, suspended algae, germs and bacteria are reduced before the water returns to the pond. The result is a visible reduction in green-tinged turbidity and a stable biological balance.

UV-C Pond Clarifiers by HEISSNER are designed for use in combination with pond pumps and filtration systems. They are suitable for ornamental ponds, fish ponds and koi ponds, supporting natural water purification without the need for chemical additives.

How does a UV-C pond clarifier work?
A UV-C pond clarifier operates using ultraviolet light. As the pond water flows through the unit, it passes a UV-C lamp. The radiation alters the cellular structure of suspended algae and certain microorganisms. This causes the algae to clump together, which allows them to be mechanically removed by the pond filter. Please note: a UV-C device is not a replacement for a filter, but complements the filtration system.

Which ponds are suitable for a UV-C pond clarifier?

  • Garden ponds with green-tinged water
  • Fish and koi ponds with higher nutrient levels
  • Ponds exposed to heavy sunlight
  • Newly established ponds during the initial balancing phase

The required wattage depends on the pond volume, fish population, and sun exposure.

How long does a UV-C lamp last?
UV-C lamps lose their effectiveness over time, even if they are still glowing.

  • Replacement is recommended after approx. 6,000 - 8,000 operating hours
  • In practice, this usually equates to once per pond season
  • Regularly clean the quartz glass for optimum performance

An annual lamp replacement ensures that full clarification performance is maintained.

When should a UV-C pond clarifier be used?
Typical period of use:

  • Spring to autumn (approx. March - October)
  • Particularly effective when temperatures rise, and algae growth increases

Usually, in winter, the device can be taken out of operation and stored in a frost-free location.
