What is the difference between a beaded liner (bead profile) and an overlap liner?
The liner edging determines how the prefabricated lining is anchored to the upper rim of the pool wall. CF. Group offers the two most common attachment systems on the market:
- Overlap Liner / Hang-Over Bead (P1): The liner features a U-shaped profile at its upper edge. During installation, this profile is simply hooked directly over the steel wall shell, and the top rail (handrail) is pushed over it to lock it in place. This is the ideal solution for classic round or oval steel-walled pools.
- Beaded Liner / Wedge Bead / Unibead (P3): This liner features a wedge-shaped profile lip. This bead is pushed laterally directly into a dedicated receiving track (bead receiver) built into the pool's top rail. The main benefit: when the liner eventually needs replacing after many years, you do not have to lift or disrupt expensive coping stones. The old liner can simply be unclipped from the track and the new one snapped right into place.
Which liner thickness is right for my pool?
CF. Group manufactures pool liners in various thicknesses to suit different usage loads and pool setups:
- 0.6 mm Thickness: The solid, cost-effective standard for classic above-ground or steel-walled pools. It is fully adequate for normal family use and remains highly flexible during installation.
- 0.8 mm Thickness: The heavy-duty upgrade. It offers a greater safety margin against physical wear and tear (e.g., from playing children or pet paws) and is highly forgiving during routine pool vacuuming.
- Reinforced On-Site Liners (1.5 mm or thicker): These professional-grade membrane solutions are typically hot-air welded directly on-site. They feature an internal mesh core, are exceptionally thick, and are used primarily for heavily frequented or continuously heated luxury design pools.
What is the average lifespan of a CF. Group pool liner?
With professional installation and proper water treatment, the lifespan of a CF. Group pool liner averages an impressive 10 to 15 years (and often even longer). The liners are formulated to be highly elastic, allowing them to withstand constant water pressure effortlessly. However, durability depends heavily on two core factors: UV exposure and your chemical water balance.
Why are correct pH and chlorine levels so vital for preserving the liner?
This is where water care and liner longevity cross paths. If your pool chemistry is consistently out of balance, the liner will suffer both cosmetically and structurally:
- Low pH Levels (Acidic Water): Causes the vinyl liner to absorb water and stretch, which leads to unsightly wrinkling and puckering.
- Consistently High Chlorine Levels: Acts as a harsh bleaching agent. Over time, the liner will lose its vibrant color and fade—particularly around the waterline where solar UV rays accelerate the bleaching effect.
The Expert Tip: By using CF. Group pool chemicals to keep your water parameters within the ideal range (pH 7.0 to 7.6), your liner will remain supple, colourfast, and reliably watertight for many years to come.
